Review
Rating: 9
Although I’ve read through it, I’m only nearing the end of unit 2 in actual practice, so this review will be rather short for now.
The first unit provides a bit of history on the Piano then goes on to introduce the basics such as reading music, finger positions and scales. With exercises throughout that can be competently played within a few days practice.
The later units slowly up the complexity as new topics are introduced, black notes, key signatures, major and minor scales, broken chords and that’s just unit 2.
The book comes with an audio cd which holds recordings of each of the exercises provided throughout the book. This is really invaluable when you’re still trying to get used to reading the music, timing etc
The usual advice for learning the Piano is to get a teacher, no book can be a substitute for a good teacher. However, if a teacher isn’t an option for whatever reason, this book is perhaps the best on offer.
